Hotel was good value for money at the Late Rooms rate. It is difficult to get a good deal on an Edinburgh hotel these days. Room was a bit small, but well appointed and quite adequate for my needs as I was out all day. Good quality of bathroom. Bar shut at 11 which was disappointing for a 3 star hotel and the breakfast whist adequate lacked the choice that I have come to expect in a Scottish hotel (no kippers!). Overall though I would return next year for the same weekend event if I could get a similar deal.

this hotel is very close to the centre of Edinburgh and within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the sights. The airport transfer bus stopped right outside and the main train station is about 15 minutes walk. The hotel was clean and staff were friendly. Our twin room was a little cramped and not much wardrobe space but we only stayed one night so didn't mind. Our friends did have a much bigger room. breakfast was lovely.

What a pleasant surprise - the hotel was conveniently situated and although the room was a little sparse (only 2 drawers) everything was clean and the shower room clean and modern with lots of hot water. Breakfast was great and all freshly cooked. A "definite" on my hotel list!

The Hotel is in a good situation to explore Edinburgh. The rooms were basic but comfortable and clean. One group in our party complained of an unclean shower head which was quickly resolved. We found you only had to ask and the staff would be more than helpful.I would not discourage anyone from stopping if they wanted a basic base in which to stay in.

i think the hotel bar should stay open longer for residents as we arrived at 11.10 on friday night and it closed at 11.00 later opening hours would be good

We stayed in the clarendon from 5th march to 8th march. We found the hotel very clean with good service. My only grumble would be the size of breakfast was quite small. The location was excellent and we actually walked there from Edinburgh Waverley which took us 15 minutes. My wife and I walked the tourist bus route over 2 days and found this a good way to see the city and get an appetite for a few beers at night!! We will definitely be stopping there in the future.

The room is a little on the small side - this is not reflected in the photos. The shower door opens on a weird angle so you have to dodge the toilet to get in. "Full English Breakfast" was one sausage, one piece of bacon, one egg and a spoonful of beans. I don't really call that a *full* English breakfast. Breakfast area was cold. Staff were friendly and courteous. Overall, a comfortable stay and the service was excellent. Though I hung a Do Not Disturb sign outside my door, the cleaning staff left fresh towels outside for me. In addition, when I went out later that evening, I came back to find that the bed had been made. Excellent service. I would stay here again.

Nice, quiet hotel. Occasional noise in the corridors with doors banging, but you get that anywhere. Waiting staff pleasant (but coffee stewed - get to breakfast early). Comfy, but small, bar/tv lounge; but with everything else on your doorstep why stay in?

I stayed for one night in this hotel in November 2006 and I have to say that it is perfect when it comes to location (very central, great for exploring the city), prices meet the standard, the service is very nice and helpful, no problems or difficulties while styaing there so if you are looking for a good and cheap place to stay, Clerendon will be ok :)

Hotel right in front of a number bus stops, so it is easy to get to (especially from the airport). Staff were curtious and helped give advice on where to go, see, and eat.

Other reviews I read on this hotel said the best feature was location. While the location was excellent for exploring Edinburgh, it was also clean (enough), quiet, safe and affordable. They had a hard time enforcing the no smoking policy but otherwise the hotel was everything it said it would be.

The hotel is well located - very central, and between both train stations, within easy walking distance of everything and with buses right outside if you're feeling lazy. Comfortable, quiet room. Parking is the only down side - there is on street parking across the road at 1.60 per hour (free between 6.30pm 8.30am) or you can get a voucher for 20% of the NCP 5 mins away, but either way works out quite pricey.
