The room (44) we occupied was in a poor decorative state. There was wallpaper peeling off the walls and water stains on the ceiling. Overall though the room was very clean.

3. From: MRS. LORIMER, B, United Kingdom
 Date of Stay: June, 2007
Shower faulty, reported twice, nothing done. Dripping tap, reported twice, nothing done. Stained carpet & chair fabric worn through. Very little sound proofing, heard clearly conversation that man next door was having. Breakfast good.

4. From: MR. MCLEAN, Colin, United Kingdom
 Date of Stay: January, 2007
Hotel was good, only there for one night - business trip. No shower in the room - only one of those things that are attached to the taps! Pay TV was not working so channels 1-5 only available. May seem trivial but when you are away on lonely business trips having a choice of films/satellite TV helps pass the time. Overall this place is extremely quiant and if everthing is in working order then it would be a really confortable, enjoyable experience.

5. From: MRS. WILLS, vicky, United Kingdom
 Date of Stay: August, 2007
We stayed at this hotel for a wedding and although the building itself is very beautiful, it is in desperate need of maintenance (there were dirty windows, weeds everywhere etc.). However, this could be overlooked if it wasn't for the fact that the service was appalling. The waiting staff frequently forgot requests we made, and the food at the wedding breakfast was either out of a packet or not cooked (raw chicken - nearly everyone on our table had to send it back).

Very pleasing Hotel good and proffesional Staff. Food of a good standard and well served. Only issue was the bathroom which was in need of some repairs to bath taps. Will use Hotel again. Thank you

A charming hotel, obiously an old manor house or something. The accoadations certainly take you back a few hundred years, could be somewhat spooky to some.

8. From: Mrs E M Hodges, United Kingdom
 Date of Stay: March, 2007
Staff are extremely helpful and polite - nothing is to much trouble, we wanted a late evening snack which I went to 0rder in the bar and take back to our room - they offerd to bring to us at no extra cost ie room service charges. our chambermaid was thorough and very friendly, They have a freefone link to a local taxi company who were very prompt and always on time. any critiscm would be that the pathway from our room in south wing to reception could have been better lit at night. but this hotel is set back from the main road and there was no noise of trraffic at any time. we would stay again and recommend to anyone - I am lucky I know the area as I used to live round there Ive stayed in other hotels and this is one of the best Aplus rating from us.

9. From: Margaret Norman, United Kingdom

Lots of character, exterior and public rooms were lovely (though my room needed redecorating). Very helpful staff. Unexciting breakfast, good dinner. Highly recommended - I'd stay there again

10. From: P DEMPSTER
 Date of Stay: April, 2007
Hotel was easy to find , had pleasant grounds and local walks. The rooms we stayed in, though modern, had possibly seen better days but were clean. Bathroom was clean but shower needed a turbo. Dining area in the older part of the hotel was very pleasant and the quality and menu choice excellent, (to the point of wanting to stay the following night just to eat at the hotel).
