| | I was delighted by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff; the small details they attended to (it was brutally hot in Vienna during my stay, and they always had available in the lobby a large pitcher of ice water and clean glasses); the spotless room; the extensive breakfast; and, most of all, the location. I knew nothing about Vienna before my arrival, but now that I do, I still think that for a modest hotel it was the best possible location. I was able to walk to almost everything, and there was a metro stop not far away. As noted above, the heat was scorching, and I was worried about being on the top floor in a non-air conditioned building, but my room had a decent-sized, portable fan, so it was bearable at night. (Without the fan, it might not have been.) I happened to be traveling alone this time, but I would definitely stay at Hotel Domizil if my family were with me. Walking into the lobby early my first morning in Vienna, I was greeted and assisted with such enthusiasm that it influenced my feelings about the city thereafter. |

| | This was my second stay and intend to return in the future. Less construction noise this time (I was even in the same room). City noise normal for very central location in Wein. Great breakfast and coffee. Staff have been very helpful -- arranging early taxis etc. |

| | We stayed at Hotel Domizil for three days at the beginning of August, 2005 and found it to be very nice. It is in a very central location close to St. Stephen's Square. The weather was very hot in Vienna and the hotel is not air conditioned so that meant we had to sleep with the windows open. There was understandably a bit of noise from the street, especially in the early morning when the garbage was being picked up. However, the hotel itself was very nice and the staff were very helpful. I would highly recommend it. |

| | The noice of construction work in the surrounding streets was terrible - but it was not hotel's fault, so we understand it. Hopeully next time the work is ready. Certainly we will come back some day. |

| | I was extremely pleased with the Domizil. The location is right in the heart of Vienna and is within easy walking distance of many of the major sights within the city. Most front desk staff - Doris, in particular! - were exceptionally helpful, going out of their way to provide information on public transportation options, shopping areas, restaurants, how to use public phones to make calls,... even managing to call around and make contact with the ticket vendor regarding our concert tickets for that evening's performance; after I'd gone in advance to pick up tickets at the venue only to discover that they were closed (during regular business hours - even though they weren't supposed to be!- and no one was additionally answering the phone at the # they'd left). Additionally, even though the Domizil only had about 40 or so rooms, someone appeared to always be at the front desk 24 hours a day. The daily breakfast buffet (included in the price) was grand, featuring all of the European standards, as well as a full American breakfast with bacon, sausage, eggs, etc., not typically provided in Europe. Our room was facing the street, so it probably wasn't as quiet as those on the back side. However, for the most part street noise was usually minimal anyway, as there was very little vehicle traffic out front on the narrow street and most sounds typically came from pedestrian traffic or the clopping of horses' hooves from the many carriages in the vicinty - actually sort of pleasant to hear in a way, kind of adding to the character of the locale and city. Room size was very good by European standards, with high ceilings and full tub / shower combination - something we Americans also take for granted as standard, but often not so in Europe. Daily room service also included the leaving of a chocolate / coffee candy treat on our pillows each day. Admittedly, the one thing - minor - I was surprised about was that even though I requested a room with one double bed, what we |

| | The location was great but more importantly the staff was excellent. They couldn't have been any friendlier, helpful, patient, or knowledgeable. My stay was very pleasant. The room was very clean and quiet. Even the breakfast was excellent (I'm not fond of European breakfasts). |

| | Our stay at the Domizil was wonderful from start to finish. A friend of ours had missed the plane and we were unable to find out where she was or whether she would make it to Vienna. On arrival at the Domizil we were greeted by an extremely friednly receptionist who listened patiently to our tale of woe and did all she could to help, including holding our friend's room until well after the advertised cancellation time. Staff in general were polite, professional and helpful throughout. The rooms are simple (no frills such as fancy toiletries or air conditioning), but welcoming and tastefully decorated, with solid furniture and glass chandeliers for that old-world touch. They are also impeccably clean, and the shower in our comfortable bathroom was a dream. The location is perfect: right around the corner from the Stephansdom, but tucked away in a side street out of the way of noisy late-night revellers. Excellent but reasonably priced restaurants (recommended: Pfudl, Bäckerstr. 22) are nearby. Overall, the Domizil is extremely good value for money and we will certainly stay there again and recommend it to all our friends. |
