Elegant traditional offering in prestigious central location. Complimentary use of nearby health club.Large listed 5-storey Georgian building (1773). 8-storey extension at rear (1970s). No balconies. Spacious and luxurious. Grand marble lobby. Ornate high-ceilinged restaurant. Long dark wood-panelled bar.

Excellent location and very good quality accomodation. There with my son for the rugby and the staff treated him exceptionally well. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definately stay there again

A nice hotel in the center of the city. Our room was very small, but perfectly passable. I couldn't find any internet access ports in our room or any wireless signal.

I stayed midweek in a 5th storey room on business. Comfortable, clean and well fitted out rooms. Good friendly staff. Even though breakfast wasn't included - for location and value via laterooms I think this hotel is hard to beat in the centre of Edinburgh. Highly recommended. I couldnt rate the food, as I didn't use the restaurant!

We arrived on the evening of 6th April to find that late rooms had booked us in for 1 night instead of 2 so it was fortunate and saved a lot of hassle that I had saved the confirmatory e-mail stating the correct information. On arrival at our room we were greeted by the easter chocolate and champagne that we received as part of our package which was very welcome. The contemporary room itself had a massive comfortable bed, a good quality Tv, a superb bathroom and in general was very good apart from the fact that it was really dusty. The restaurant at the hotel is absolutely fantastic and it was a joy on both mornings to sit and enjoy a good quality cooked breakfast from the buffet along with fresh fruit. The service in the restaurant was quick and the staff appeared to be working very hard, serving guests in a polite, friendly manner. The hotel is situated in a great position for shopping, site seeing and enjoying the nightlife Edinburgh has to offer and I would recommend to anyone that they stay. If you do go it would be a good idea to get the train, the nearest station being Edinburgh Waverley which is located 10 mins walk from the hotel. There is a small car park outside the hotel but it is pay and display. All in all we had a great experience and will definately be going again. Thankyou to all at The George.

very central, staff very friendly and helpfull. Our Rooms were in the new wing, large airy and well furnished. The bathroom was a little small but overall well done out. A bit of noise from outside from late night revellers, but nothing too disturbing. Breakfast although reasonable did not match the general good standard of the hotel and NO Porridge !!

Hotel very central for Railway station, tour buses, shopping, restaurants and coffee shops. Hop on a local bus from Princes Street takes you to Edingurgh Zoo in about ten minutes. Hotel reception area has lounge seating for you to relax in before you go back to Hotel room. Dining room is fabulous, decor and seating very comfotable to enjoy your meal. Self service for breakfasts, hot and cold buffet. Room service for almost anything you require at a charge. The refurbished room that we had was very small, but every thing you needed was to hand. The first floor we were on had no view from our room, next time I would request a higher floor. T he weather was not kind to us but did not stop us enjoying the short break. Lovely hotel, very recommendable.

We were a group of 2 adults and 3 teens. Our rooms were newly refurbished and quite nice with very comfortable beds. The location of the Hotel George is excellent. We had a package that included breakfast, though this was not made clear to the hotel. Fortunately, I had a copy of the reservation from LateRooms which stated this. Everyone was very nice and helpful. All in all, we were quite pleased and would stay at this hotel again.

The bathroom lights were very annoying, as you had to turn on the main room lights to get them on. Not good at night. The reason why I would not stay again, is the room size was also very small and no mini bar!!

Our stay was completely tainted by the fact that a couple of things from our room went missing: - it was claimed after we challenged the first item that it was accidentally thrown away (a full bottle of wine which was in a bag on the floor). We were given another bottle of wine and we accepted this. However,a second missing item was discovered when we got home. After a phone call to Housekeeping we were promised that the Housekeeping manager would ring back the next day. They didn't. We wrote a letter to the Hotel Manager and received no reply. If somebody had taken the trouble to talk to us and give us any credible reason for the missing items, we may have accepted it. It was, however, obviously too much trouble for them to pick up the phone. We would not stay in this hotel again, nor recommend it.

My partner and I booked here for Hogmanay, and although the main celebrations were cancelled, we had a fab time none the less. Definetly recommend the hotel, it was very nice, clean, modern and set in an excellent location. Close to the train station, shops, great bars and restaurants, and 2 minutes walk from Princes Street. We love Edinburgh and will definitely try to stay at the George again.

An excellent location for sightseeing in Edinburgh! There is not much in the rooms to help you with your tour planning, and there wasn't even a yellow pages in the room! Minor things really, but area information would have helped us with our weekend planning.

The hotel is in an excellent location, just off Princes Street, and is ideal for shopping and restaurants. We could see a corner of the castle from our room. It takes about 20 mins in a cab from the airport which costs about 17.
