Haymarket is a small hotel in a townhouse in a residential/commercial neighborhood. It is easy walking distance to the city center, and is a block from the Haymarket train stop. Facilities are what you would expect at this price. There is a nice bar and dining room; breakfast is served in the sister hotel next door. Overall, a reasonable quality/price ratio.

A very nice hotel, within walking distance from the centre. Reasonably priced and suitable for children. The breakfast was good, staff were helpful, hotel was clean and bar was nice and quiet. Would definately stay again and recommend to friends. Late rooms. com were helpful when we were booking the room.

It was quite far from the city center, furniture and wallpapers were rather old and not very clean. But we needed just some cozy place to have rest after hour long daily walks, not very expensive, so, it was ideal choice. I can recommend this hotel to budget travelers.

A Great Hotel - we would stay again. 10 mins walk to city and main sights - friendly staff - beautiful freshly cooked breakfast.

Handy location, great breakfasts but the rooms were very small and could do with a renovation. No fridge in the room either. I suppose you can't expect too much with the price.

Room was clean and tidy. The staff were very frindly and helpful. You have to bring your own wash kit as nothing was provided in the ensuite bathroom, the hotel should at least provide the basics.

Room 22 was very unique. You had another set of stairs down to a large (comfy) bed with a little lounge area, good bathroom and it's own little court yard. We traveled with our young child and this room had plenty of space for the cot they provided. Parking isnt really 'provided' although street parking (pay and display) is available if you can find it. The hotel is a good walk to city centre but can be done, plus it is on a bus route. Thought it was a bit pricey but since we were in town for the Fringe Festival we knew we were lucky to get a room and paying for the location. Directions are needed and getting there can be tricky. All in all a great visit to Edinburgh and would return to the Haymarket.

Friendly service, prompt attention and very comfy bed, good standarrd breakfast. Room adequate, could beneift from somewhere to hang overcoats in room. Also could do with replacing electric sockets behind the bed with standard UK fittings. We noticed the TV was not properly tuned in but this was not a problem for us as we only stayed in the room to sleep.

We stayed during the festival so prices were high but overall the hotel is well located and the staff friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel and stay there in the future.

The problem was that we stayed for 5 nights and they never changed our towels and gave us just one soap for all this period. Alsom, there was no remote control for the TV. But the room was nice and quiet and the breakfast was very good.

We were very satisfied with our stay at the Haymarket Hotel, except for a couple of minor negatives. The bed covers (not the sheets) were less than perfectly clean, and there was according to my light-sleeping wife some noise due to a rugby team which happened to be staying at the hotel the same night. Otherwise, the staff, the room, the breakfast, the location, etc, could not be better.

The staff of the hotel is indeed very helpful; they try to do their best for the guest to have a nice stay. Unfortunatelly, since the hotel is small and has no reserved areas for that, I had to sleep with cigarette smell around me. The heating system could be improved. Excellent breakfast and location.

the hotel was good , my room was big. They made the toilete facilitis just before we went there. Becouse the room was to big it was a bit cold. And the other thing is that the breakfast it was to early from 7-9 in the morning.

The hotel was very nice, the staff were friendly, and also very accomodating as they arranged an early breakfast for me as I had to leave early. I enjoyed my stay.

The faculty includes two hotels side by side--the Haymarket and the Buchan; we stayed in the Buchan. Both hotels are clearly converted Victorian single-family homes, which had some pluses and minuses. On the plus side, both properties had that charming Victorian conversion look, and the room was surprisingly large with very high ceilings. On the minus side, the bathroom, was tiny (but adequate), and had obviously been stuck on when the building was converted to a hotel. The staff was VERY friendly and helpful. Before we went, somebody told us that Edinburgh is the least friendly part of Scotland. If that's the case, the rest of Scotland must be very friendly indeed. The hotel was about a 10-15 minute walk to the start of Prince Street (depending on your pace), and about the same time to the start of the Royal Mile. It's just around the corner from Haymarket Station, which is where the airport bus stops. The included breakfast was very generous. The property is on the corner of Haymarket Terrace (which is busy and functional, but not too attractive) and Coates Gardens (which is a very pleasant street.) We soon learned that going up Coates Gardens and cutting through residential streets was the more pleasant way to get to the tourist sites. All in all, we were very happy with our stay. If you can get as good a price for a hotel that's right in the heart of Old Town or New Town, you might want to take that instead and save yourself 10-15 minutes of walking each way--but other than that, we would highly recommend the Haymarket/Buchan.

The heating of the rooms was very poor so that the nights were rather icy and no change did happen after complaint was raised. Hotel is well located and recommendable only in summertimes as heating seems to be very old and insufficient.I lives in Canada but I caught a cold in that hotel.
