This hotel was in a beatiful setting and very welcoming. Rooms were superb but the food was inedible. I spent 100 on room service food and sent it all back with a complaint to the person who collected the trays. They gave no response whatsoever and neither did the hotel. It was a shame as otherwise the hotel was quite impressive. This spoilt the stay and for this reason alone I would not return.

stayed here for 3 nights, very impressive looking place, great if your going for the wow factor, told the wife we were staying in a b&b she almost exploded when she saw this place!! worked out at 32.50 per night inc breakfast, so very good value considering a dump of a b&b would cost about 25 - 30 each per night, only 10 mins drive from edinburgh, also only 10 mins drive from park and ride,( just pick up the sign posts on your way to the city from the hotel) reccomended as its a lot cheaper than paying the high parking fees in the city centre, all in all a great break, lovely city too, would stay here again for sure.

Highly recommended for a relaxing getaway. The staff extremely friendly and helpful. The brasserie menu was excellent and very good value for money. Will definitely stay again. I would say a car is essential.

I was more than satisfied with all aspects of our stay. The hotel was well turned-out and set in magnificent grounds. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the free room upgrade was a most welcome surprise. The food was reasonably priced and offered some inventive twists to good standard fare. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Melville to others.

We stayed at Melville Castle for a few days and we really couldnt have been happier with the hotel. It was exceptionally good value. The hotel is a wonderful 18th Century Castle / Manor House which is set in it a large area of woodland. The room was beautiful and was very well presented. The hotel is very easy to find as it is straight off Edinburgh city bypass, it has lots of free parking. Its a bit of a nightmare driving into Edinburgh, a taxi is around 15 pounds from the hotel, the best value option is the bus which comes straight outside the hotel and is only a pound each. The food is good quality, and isnt too expensive. The staff where really helpful, they even gave us written directions to Roslin Chapel, which is well worth a visit.
