The stay was fine but the rooms were super basic, I felt as though I was in a dormitory rather than a hotel which looks quite grand downstairs but the rooms aren't really fantastic. However to be fair you get what you pay for and the room was really cheap.

As it was my first visit to birmingham, i did find the hotel a little difficult to locate, but once there, the staff were very friendly and helpful and told me and my friend where to go etc. The room was very small, but to be honest, it was all we needed. Some more attention could be paid to cleaning in these rooms though - especially behind and under the beds ! Very impressive looking hotel, will definately be visiting again !

The bar area was incredibly hot and is very much in need of some air conditioning. Much custom was lost as a result and we only occupied it when other options for the party to drink elsewhere were exhausted.

This a much improved hotel under new management and staff since last year. Work is still going on to refurbish rooms though bedroom corridors still need attention. Staff very good. Shame it looks out on to light industrial area and really requires a taxi to city centre. Though am used to that with chain hotels. Have stayed twice before for conferences this is best year yet and price paid very good compared to rack rate. Conference lunch good though did not eat in for dinner although colleagues tell me fixed price menu was fair quality and price.

Myself and myfriend used the Hotel as an overnight stay for a concert. I found the Hotel staff very friendly and helpful, the Location was pretty good and fairly clean.. I did find the decor a little tired, but was pleased with the basic facility that was available making a our over night stay a very comfortable one.

Paragon Hotel Birmingham offers great value for money. Although it's situated at walking distance from the city, it's comfortable and clean as well as being based in a Victorian building with lots of character its prices are very reasonable.

If you like grease then this is the breakfast for you. If it is not included in your rate though it is very very overpriced at ?7.95!! The rooms are basic and it cost me a ?10 deposit to get an extension cable as there was only one normal plug socket in my room which the tv was using. The hot water ran out before the end of my shower every day. On the whole you get what you pay for and I got a very cheap deal so it was relative.

Even though it's off the beaten track a bit, there were a lot of noisy young (I assume) drivers showing off in their cars around the hotel which made for a sleepless night. Can't fault the staff at all, very courteous and efficient. Rooms were a bit dull, although I'm led to understand a refurbishment is on the way.

It is a nice hotel, well worth the ?47 for the night that I paid. However the rooms are a bit out of date and need of modernisation. I believe the superior rooms are a lot better however.

the room was icy cold with out the heating on and the windows didnt close properly and the shower fixings were lose, but considering the price not bad

The main drawback, in my opinion, is that the public areas of the hotel are filled with the most ghastly muzak. If they would turn it off, or replace it with something more pleasant, it would make eating the restaurant and drinking in the bar a great deal more pleasant.

this hotel has excellent bar and restaurant facilities and is close to the city centre , the staff are friendly and helpful and roms whilst on the small side are very clean and comfortable
