Everything about the hotel was good except for the access when travelling by road owing to local restrictions in road access. The entrance to the hotel is also very easy to miss as it is via an alleyway off the main road. The only parking area at the front of the hotel is in a bus lane.

The Scotsman Hotel was a real find - I didn't think we would get a reservation on Valentines day but I did! The service at the hotel was excellent, the staff went out of their way to help, they booked a dinner reservation for us, ordered taxis and were generally really helpful. The room was lovely, very spacious for a city centre and the building was stunning. The pool and health club in the basement was fabulous - we just wished we could have stayed longer!

Probably the nicest hotel I've stayed in in the UK and certainly the friendliest at that price level.

The hotel was fabulous, prime location with excellent staff taking care of your every need. Concierge were fantastic, parked my car for me, arranged complimentary drinks upon arrival and even held the umbrella to stop me getting wet as I left. They even provided a daily weather report so you could plan your day. The food and facilities were first class, the spa treatments were amazing. I would seriously recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a luxurious stay or celebrate a special occasion.

Staff very friendly--maybe a little bit gushing perhaps !! No easy front door car parking--and valet parking is 20 ! Food in the Brasserie excellent . It is located in a lovely room but can be cold as there is a lot of through traffic.Bedrooms are very well appointed .Truly 5 star. An Edinburgh hotel with real character and very centrally situated for the sights.

Thank goodness we didnt pay full rate. The room was very small and very warm. There was very little ventillation in the bathroom which was uncomfortable. The hotel lacked a friendly atmosphere and the reception area was very dull and gloomy. I was looking forward to staying here but was very disappointed and would not go back

Superb location and very good concierge service. A very friendly atmosphere. The rooms are not quite as stylish as one might have hoped in a hotel of this calibre that was created so recently, but the overall experience was excellent and if you can get a good deal it is perhaps the best place to stay in Edinburgh.
