The hotel is made up of 3 buildings, one of which (Haus Renate) is set back behind the other two, making it an even quieter place for a good night's sleep. Most rooms are overlooking peaceful gardens. The hotel is very family friendly, and offers rooms with 3 or 4 beds suitable for those travelling with children.

The hotel is located in the quiet and friendly area of Maxglan, only a 20 minute walk along the high street, through the Neutor into the Old Town of Salzburg. The Hotel zur Post is only a 5 minute taxi ride or 10 minute bus ride from Salzburg airport. The hotel offers free outdoor parking and garage spaces are available for a small charge. You can even rent bicycles from here, to explore the area at your leisure, from €9 per day. The hotel also books and sells concert tickets, sightseeing tours, tickets for the Mozart music dinner, the Salzburg Card (free single admission to all the city's attractions and free use of public transport throughout the city, incl. fortress funicular and panorama boat).
